TeamUCL

Men

After a BUCS season of could haves and should haves, UCL Men’s Hockey is looking to round off the year by winning their fourth consecutive Varsity series. With both Kings and UCL having very experienced sides we know that the game will be fiercely contested and will go down to the wire. We imagine Kings will be quietly confident this year, but them being in the league above in 2017 didn’t affect the outcome at Varsity…

Women

All you have to do is look at our season so far to show that we are more than ready to take on Kings at Varsity. The UCLWHC 1st team have had a 100% winning streak to date, from winning the London Universities preseason tournament at Lee Valley in September to most recently beating Cardiff Met to qualify for the quarter finals of the BUCS cup. With one month to go until Varsity, we are working hard and playing harder to ensure that our 6 year drought finally comes to an end.

KCLSU

Men

King’s, fresh from promotion into the league above UCL, will look to reassert their dominance after unlucky defeats in recent years. Having dispensed with much of the old guard, King’s have a youthful side ready to take up the gauntlet and lead the quest for Varsity glory. The team, while new, has great strength in depth and a fine balance of KCLHC stalwarts mixed with baby faced freshers yet to experience the heat of battle. They have also roped in battle-scarred varsity veteran James Simpson to head up the coaching team. With many years of experience playing against our London rivals, OG Simmo feels that the team is well prepared to finally bring the trophy home.

Women

KCL Women’s Hockey 1st Team is ready as ever to take on UCL and continue our winning streak at Varsity. With a relatively new team, our season has been good so far, beating notable opponents such as Exeter and Southampton. The team has also had a great Cup run, recently making it to the quarter finals. We have been working hard on the pitch and in our strength and conditioning sessions, and we’re ready to face whatever UCL has in store for us. Come and watch us battle it out to get our 6th consecutive Varsity win.
